This Week’s Top Five 30/01/16

This is a new feature that I’ll be doing more regularly that’ll include my top 5 songs of the week. I’ll try to keep it as new as possible but there’s no denying a few old tracks will make their way in there at some stage. So if you’re ever stuck for something to listen to just head over here and have a listen. There’s plenty of recent reviews of these artists on our homepage too so have a flick around if you hear something you like.

Dirty Dike – Me & You

A great track from one of the most talented rapper/producer in the U.K. Both rappers, Dike & Jam Baxter, bring witty rhymes and hilarious imagery over a smooth sample that has traces of something that MF DOOM would like to get his hands.

Anderson .Paak – The Bird

It was hard to pick just one track from Anderson .Paak’s fantastic Malibu album, but this opener definitely sets the tone for the heartfelt, easy-going project perfectly. Certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming months.

Freddie Gibbs – Cocaine Parties In L.A

Gangsta Gibbs is not stranger to a Madlib beat. After a collaborative album with the producer already under his belt, it was only right he hopped on the beat for Kanye West’s ‘No More Parties’ and killed it.

Stormzy – One Take Freestyle

Stormzy has been a name that has been hard to avoid for a while now. After appearing in battle rap with Kevin Hart, officiated by Ice Cube, last week, he then dropped this rapidly delivered whirlwind of a track.

Ocean Wisdom – One Take

Though similarly titled to my last choice, this track is a much different beast. While we wait for Chaos ’93 to drop on February 22nd, this track gives us a glimpse at something a little slower this time from Ocean Wisdom, but none the less enthralling.
